Abdominal Catheter Control Elastic Support System (ACCESS)

ACCESS LLC
www.abdominalcathetersupport.com

11 West End Road
Totowa, NJ 07512
Tel: 800-973-0355

The Abdominal Catheter Control Elastic Support System (ACCESS) was originally designed in 1998 to alleviate the unnecessary side effects a PD patient was experiencing from using tape to secure the catheter; the patient was also experiencing emotional anxiety and loss of self esteem from the obvious protrusion from the connector to the catheter. With the alleviation of the irritation to the abdominal area it was obvious that ACCESS was needed for all PD patients.

ACCESS is available in two stretchable fabrics and is custom fitted to maximize patient comfort. The cotton blend fabric is soft to the touch and the nylon fabric has the absorbent properties of a bathing suit to ideally support the catheter during showering.

Use of ACCESS discreetly insures stability of the catheter from the exit site to the connector, reduces the potential of exit site infection, and is doctor-recommended.

We are now approved providers of durable medical equipment for Medicare and accept insurance assignment, so there is no out-of-pocket expense to the patient. Call us today and we will explain how you may obtain your own custom fitted PD catheter supports at no cost.

AccessWear

Access Wear

490 Long Hill Ave
Shelton, CT 06484
Tel: 888-994-7737

Created by two dialysis nurses as a response to their dialysis patient complaints of being cold during their hemodialysis treatment, AccessWear was designed to minimize patient exposure and provide warmth and comfort. Zippers are strategically placed in heavyweight cotton and polyester sweatshirts, sweatpants, and fleece jackets to afford dialysis patients and their nurses ease in accessing the arteriovenous fistula, graft, or permcatheter used during hemodialysis.

By simply unzippering the washable and durable zipper, only the necessary area is exposed, making it convenient for dialysis to get underway. Patients are happy and their nurses are happy. At the end of treatment, close the zipper and you are suitably dressed to go about your day without looking like you have on medically-adapted clothing. This product is a high-quality, washable, and fashionable garment which is warm and comfortable. It is also a great gift for a friend or family member on dialysis.

The products currently available through AccessWear include sweatshirts and sweatpants. The 50% cotton/50% polyester sweatshirts have molded plastic zippers which can be located in either the right or left arm, shoulder to cuff, to make the AV fistula or graft readily available to the nurse. Also available are 50% cotton/50% polyester sweatshirts with zippers across the chest which open at either end to make access to permanent catheters easy, and afford the patient significant privacy during treatment. Sweatpants made of the same heavyweight 50% cotton/50% polyester fabric can have 12-inch zippers placed in the upper left or upper right thigh area for patients with leg accesses.

When it comes to securing PD transfer sets, simple is still best. Immobilé is one of the most innovative ways to secure PD transfer sets on the market. It remains the preferred choice for thousands of patients in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. A patented combination of hypoallergenic adhesive together with a Velcro hook-and-loop tab makes Immobilé cost effective, body trim, and very easy to use.

Immobilé was developed from patient requests for a device that not only secured the transfer set but that secured it in such a way as to allow normal active body movement (such as biking or skiing) without concern for the integrity of the set or access. Patients also wanted to eliminate the sticky step of pulling tape off the transfer set three or four times a day when releasing it for an exchange. When care is taken one Immobilé can be used for three days (up to 12 exchanges).

Many people prefer Immobilé to a belt because it is much more body trim, easier to use and yet, very effective.

Immobilé

  • Easier and more cost effective than tape alone
  • More body trim and less bulky than the belt
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Sterile product
  • Available direct or through major distributors' ancillary catalogs or formularies
