Annual Dialysis Conference coming up
The ADC, in San Francisco from Feb. 26-28th, is our favorite meeting of the year since it focuses heavily on home therapies of all types. Hear presentations from dialysis thought leaders from around the globe and see the newest home equipment. We'll be there with booth #17. Stop by and see us!
FREE ISHD seminar in San Francisco
If you're planning to attend the ADC, don't miss the annual half-day seminar the day before (Feb. 25) put on by the International Society for Hemodialysis—it's one of the highlights of the meeting. This year's topics include water purity, the role of inflammation and oxidants, plasticizers, contaminants in dialysis, and more. Sign up for free registration.
Topic of the month—hemodialysis: why more is better
Dialysis removes water and wastes—which takes time and is best done as often as possible (like healthy kidneys would allow). Learn more in this month's educational topic.
Innovative papers in home dialysis
Blood pressure control is one of the bugaboos of standard dialysis. In kidney failure, salt builds up and attracts fluid to the tissues, causing swelling. When blood pressure treatment begins, there may be a lag time of several months before the full effects are seen. Read about it here.
"I don't feel tired at all. I feel like before I went on dialysis," says Phyllis
After her transplant failed in 2003, Phyllis, age 38, was dissatisfied with her lifestyle on in-center hemo. Watching the news during a treatment, she learned about a new, portable dialysis machine for home use and found it in her local area. Read her story!
